In the years 1995--2001, I was very active in the paperfolding community and in the german paperfolding society Origami Deutschland e.V.. I was at one time editor of the magazine der falter, the official magazine of Origami Deutschland e.V., editor of the Origami Deutschland web pages, and member of imagiro, an amateur press alliance about origami that publishes a bi-monthly magazine.
Since starting my studies, the interest in paperfolding has waned, but I still go to conferences and meetings every once in a while and keep in contact with all the friends I gained via origami.
I'm also the founder and moderator of the German paperfolding mailing list papierfalten@yahoogroups.com. Please join the group if you speak German and want to get in touch with other paperfolders.

Usually I mention from which book or booklet I got the diagrams. This is just to save me from being swamped with questions by people who absolutely must fold that model, but do not know where to find it.
Interestingly, this gallery is still the part of my web page that draws the most hits. Perhaps I should start again ...
In the years 2000--2001, I collaborated with French sculptor and paperfolder Vincent Floderer a number of times, enjoying the hospitality of his home in central France and the support of CRIMP. Some of the works that I created during that time are now part of the collection of CRIMP and are travelling to exhibitions.
The model pictured below was first exhibited at the Payspassages exhibition at Brive-la-Gaillarde, France, from April 17th to May 16th, 2002.
The illustration of the underlying structure are by Ernst Bläuenstein, the photographs are courtesy of Vincent Floderer and CRIMP.
These giant mushrooms are folded from a single piece of paper, without any artificial means of support. The largest are folded from sheets of 8, 22, and 50 square meters, respectively, and are up to 1.80m tall. I participated in producing the second-largest and third-largest.
